At least he has a sense of humor about it all. :c)

Alec Hopkins does double duty in two roles in this student film made by Stuart Self last year.

Alec Hopkins makes another appearance in Half Blood Prince! Check out this video from You Tube's Dinner With Greedo:

He plays a moving picture, so it's not a BIG part, but it hopefully means he has a good chance at being cast in the Deathly Hallows film(s).

It's a couple of months late, but here are some photos of Alec Hopkins signing autographs at the Wrexham Comicon this past June.

For any of you on Facebook who might be interested, there is a fan group for Alec Hopkins started by a couple of fans from Virginia. At it's peak over the summer it had about 30 people on it, but then lay pretty much dormant and began to lose members. In fact, the two gals who started it are also gone.

Then Alec himself discovered it, and is now a member. Apparently a whole lot of his friends are also now members, too. Since the group is called "Uh, anyone else think Young Snape is really attractive?" it's probably fair to say that most of them joined to tease Alec. :c)

One of Alec's school mates has taken over admin status for now. I have no idea if this is something temporary, or whether Alec actually intends for this to be a medium to reach his fans, but here's the link for anyone interested.

Alec Hopkins is scheduled to appear at the North Wales Comicon in Wrexham, Wales, June 7 & 8, 2008. Nice to see he is still getting some recognition from the fans for his role as Young Snape. :c)

Another fine Darkshine Films production - and my favorite to date, I think:

What with Halloween coming up and all, what could be finer than a little ghost story?

I found this digging around on some of the old archives. It's a photoshopped compiliation done by someone called Merima Mahmic of some of the pics that Alec had on his old MySpace account. The one of him on the top center is, I believe, from when he did the sound for the Rainforest film. You can see him holding the equipment with the pack on his back. Also, at one time he was listed as the keyboard player for a band called "One Cut Above." The photo on the bottom left was on that site, along with a similar photo to the one of him in the striped shirt and the hoodie. I have no idea if the band still exists or not. The photo in the middle is from the old Myspace page for a band called "Seven Day Massacre." Again, I don't know whether it still exists or not, or whether it was an incarnation of OCA. Shame, really. I'd love to know if he still plays. ;c)

What a looooong and exciting day! ;c)

First of all, I FINALLY saw OotP, and I LOVED it. Really. Plot holes, cut scenes, differences from the book, and all. I truly think this is my favorite HP so far. I'll do a separate post tomorrow going into more detail about what I liked, but overall, definitely a thumbs up.

Oh, and just for the record? Alec Hopkins=perfect Young Snape. There's more than just the tree scene, and he managed to get across SO much information about this boy with just body language alone (well, okay, and makeup). Impressive, truly. He done good. :c)

BTW, if you go to [livejournal.com profile] alec_hopkins, [livejournal.com profile] ook has posted a couple of sneaky shots of those scenes for your viewing pleasure.

We got a new doggy! He's a 1.5 year-old Labrador, and his name is (at the moment, anyway) Spikey. He's an odd mix of black and chocolate, so depending on how the light shines, he can look like either one. The previous owners had two other big dogs in this *tiny* little house, and since he was the youngest, he was at the bottom of the pecking order and was constantly being harassed by the other two. He's also incredibly playful, and the owner just couldn't handle a high-energy dog that needs to be walked and played with on a several-times-daily basis.

I've missed my Zorrodog so much these last months, and I'm thrilled to have a new fuzzbeast to cuddle and run around with. The kids are also nuts about him, so I'm quite sure he'll have LOTS of playtime. :c)

I took some pictures which I will post tomorrow. It's already after 10:00 p,m. here, and I'm exhausted.

We're off today to FINALLY see the film and with lovely serendipity, my Snape t-shirt from Hot Topic arrived in the mail just in time for me to wear it to the theater. :c)

Right afterward, we're going on a sooper sekrit mission to possibly bring home a new four-footed family member! It all depends on whether all the children play well together. That's all I really want to say right now - just in case.

Oh! As an ETA to yesterdays Dinner with Greedo video, I got a nice message from Paul Avery (whom I assume is the Greedo in question!), happily giving permission to post (which was not unexpected), but he also hinted that he might do something else with Alec in the future. I don't know if that's going to pan out, obviously, but it's something to look forward to.

After all, if you're not on YouTube, you're nobody. ;c)

The new Newbury Today article from yesterday now has a video clip of an interview they did with him at the Odeon Theatre in Basingstoke.

Here's the link - same basic info, but he also talks about how he got into acting and why he then decided to go into directing instead. :c)

Oh! The best bit was when he described being on the set as like being in a retirement home for famous British actors.

Months of having nothing on Alec, and then suddenly Wham! we get all kinds of new stuff. This, for example:

Well, I'm back, in a limited fashion. I still haven't seen the movie, but when I started getting alerts on all the new Alec goodies, I couldn't resist posting them right away. And of course, that necessitated going to my flist and then I...well, I just couldn't help myself, and I started reading. Hello, my name is Tracy, and I am an LJ addict. :c)

At any rate, I *will* go offline and STAY offline when the book comes out. The movie can't be any more spoiled for me at this point (especially after Alec got all specific about his scene in the interview for ITC), so I guess I'll stick around until Thursday or so.

Isn't that great?

*sound of crickets chirping*

Ahem. Yes, well.

A'right, then.

I have mixed feelings about the film which have nothing to do with any reviews of the movie itself. OotP was my least-favorite HP book, and I absolutely loathed Harry through most of it. I spent most of my reading time wanting to slap that boy upside the head and tell him not to be so selfish and shallow. Ron and Hermione were hardly even in the book, and it just seemed so fractured and angry. Umbridge made my skin crawl in a way that even Voldemort didn't, and the whole Harry/Cho thing was just...drippy. I guess Rowling had to sort of resolve that crush to make way for the whole Harry/Ginny thing in HBP, but it still seemed such a dreary way of ending what should have been a little more meaningful (IMHO). Oh well.

As for the film, I'm happy that everyone so far says that Evanna Lynch is the perfect Luna, because she's one of my favorite characters, so I'm pleased that there seems to be universal acclaim for her performance.

And even though I now know that the Young Snape scene is rather different from the book, and not nearly as long as I'd hoped, we still get the main point of it; that James and company were a bunch of jerks, and not the shining idols that Harry believed them to be. It's such a pivotal moment in the storyline that if it had fallen flat it would have really made a botch of the next two films.

Anyway, in going over my last few entries, I realized that I've said almost nothing that isn't HP- or Alec Hopkins- related in days. Once the book is out, and I've had a chance to babble about it with everyone, then I suppose I'll get around to "regular" posting again, whatever that means. Assuming I don't expire from grief over Snape's death.

Yep. His death. I'm still convinced that's the only way this story arc makes any sense. Death in a noble cause, saving old Scar Head in Book 7.

So, yeah. I'm off to buy tickets for the movie. ;c)

Cross-posted from [livejournal.com profile] alec_hopkins

When I cross-posted this on my LJ, [livejournal.com profile] ook had asked if it was certain that Alec was the narrator that you hear on "Alone." I wasn't 100%, so I risked looking like a complete stalker nutcase and contacted the director, and asked him if it *was* Alec.

To my surprise (because he took WEEKS to get back to me last time LOL!), he came back right away and confirmed that it was Alec. He was very polite about the whole thing, considering he must have really rolled his eyes when he read my mail. :c) He also pointed me to this little "outtake," which apparently was from a version they decided not to use, since the other film stops right as The Soldier apparently dies.

Alec giggles! Who'd a thunk? Don't think we've ever seen him really smile before (I don't count the teeth-showing grimace in The Egg), so this made my day.

I know it's a long weekend, but honestly, I didn't expect to be the only one who got all tickled over the video of Alec Hopkins that I posted. It's a bit heavy on the angst, so perhaps with the crappy weather making everyone depressed it didn't go over very well?

Or am I just alone out here in my delight? I love actually hearing his voice; while he obviously doesn't have the timing and cadence of Rickman!Snape, it works. It's not the northern twang of Matt Lewis (which I think would probably be more authentic to the HBP), but I'm just telling myself that he was already working on his RP by 5th year. :c)

I'm not sold on that uniform, however. The hat, in particular, looks like it's too big for his head. But then, it's only a student-made film - hardly Hollywood budget.

Oh! You do have to have the latest version of Flash to see it.
