For those of you who remember James Walters, the young man who played Young Sirius Black in Order of the Phoenix, here's his latest foray into film.

The only info I have for this is that it was directed by a film student named Dean who attends Canterbury Christ University College. I've written to ask for more details, so stay tuned. :c)

The NECA Snape figure now has it's own webpage, which wouldn't be all that big a deal (as I'm pretty sure we've all seen it), but I did think the photos of how the figure was made were interesting. To wit: Snape butt.

The rest of the photos at the official NECA webpage, here.

What a looooong and exciting day! ;c)

First of all, I FINALLY saw OotP, and I LOVED it. Really. Plot holes, cut scenes, differences from the book, and all. I truly think this is my favorite HP so far. I'll do a separate post tomorrow going into more detail about what I liked, but overall, definitely a thumbs up.

Oh, and just for the record? Alec Hopkins=perfect Young Snape. There's more than just the tree scene, and he managed to get across SO much information about this boy with just body language alone (well, okay, and makeup). Impressive, truly. He done good. :c)

BTW, if you go to [livejournal.com profile] alec_hopkins, [livejournal.com profile] ook has posted a couple of sneaky shots of those scenes for your viewing pleasure.

Annnnnd....

We got a new doggy! He's a 1.5 year-old Labrador, and his name is (at the moment, anyway) Spikey. He's an odd mix of black and chocolate, so depending on how the light shines, he can look like either one. The previous owners had two other big dogs in this *tiny* little house, and since he was the youngest, he was at the bottom of the pecking order and was constantly being harassed by the other two. He's also incredibly playful, and the owner just couldn't handle a high-energy dog that needs to be walked and played with on a several-times-daily basis.

I've missed my Zorrodog so much these last months, and I'm thrilled to have a new fuzzbeast to cuddle and run around with. The kids are also nuts about him, so I'm quite sure he'll have LOTS of playtime. :c)

I took some pictures which I will post tomorrow. It's already after 10:00 p,m. here, and I'm exhausted.

We're off today to FINALLY see the film and with lovely serendipity, my Snape t-shirt from Hot Topic arrived in the mail just in time for me to wear it to the theater. :c)

Right afterward, we're going on a sooper sekrit mission to possibly bring home a new four-footed family member! It all depends on whether all the children play well together. That's all I really want to say right now - just in case.

Oh! As an ETA to yesterdays Dinner with Greedo video, I got a nice message from Paul Avery (whom I assume is the Greedo in question!), happily giving permission to post (which was not unexpected), but he also hinted that he might do something else with Alec in the future. I don't know if that's going to pan out, obviously, but it's something to look forward to.

After all, if you're not on YouTube, you're nobody. ;c)

Well, I'm back, in a limited fashion. I still haven't seen the movie, but when I started getting alerts on all the new Alec goodies, I couldn't resist posting them right away. And of course, that necessitated going to my flist and then I...well, I just couldn't help myself, and I started reading. Hello, my name is Tracy, and I am an LJ addict. :c)

At any rate, I *will* go offline and STAY offline when the book comes out. The movie can't be any more spoiled for me at this point (especially after Alec got all specific about his scene in the interview for ITC), so I guess I'll stick around until Thursday or so.

Isn't that great?

*sound of crickets chirping*

Ahem. Yes, well.

A'right, then.

I have mixed feelings about the film which have nothing to do with any reviews of the movie itself. OotP was my least-favorite HP book, and I absolutely loathed Harry through most of it. I spent most of my reading time wanting to slap that boy upside the head and tell him not to be so selfish and shallow. Ron and Hermione were hardly even in the book, and it just seemed so fractured and angry. Umbridge made my skin crawl in a way that even Voldemort didn't, and the whole Harry/Cho thing was just...drippy. I guess Rowling had to sort of resolve that crush to make way for the whole Harry/Ginny thing in HBP, but it still seemed such a dreary way of ending what should have been a little more meaningful (IMHO). Oh well.

As for the film, I'm happy that everyone so far says that Evanna Lynch is the perfect Luna, because she's one of my favorite characters, so I'm pleased that there seems to be universal acclaim for her performance.

And even though I now know that the Young Snape scene is rather different from the book, and not nearly as long as I'd hoped, we still get the main point of it; that James and company were a bunch of jerks, and not the shining idols that Harry believed them to be. It's such a pivotal moment in the storyline that if it had fallen flat it would have really made a botch of the next two films.

Anyway, in going over my last few entries, I realized that I've said almost nothing that isn't HP- or Alec Hopkins- related in days. Once the book is out, and I've had a chance to babble about it with everyone, then I suppose I'll get around to "regular" posting again, whatever that means. Assuming I don't expire from grief over Snape's death.

Yep. His death. I'm still convinced that's the only way this story arc makes any sense. Death in a noble cause, saving old Scar Head in Book 7.

So, yeah. I'm off to buy tickets for the movie. ;c)

I just ordered this:

*facepalm* I'm supposed to be SAVING money. The shirt itself isn't so expensive, but the shipping fee was ridiculous. I think perhaps it's time to step away from my computer for a bit...

Here's the link if anyone else who might be interested.

Well, I've gone ahead and translated it and forwarded it to DanRad.com. Dunno if they'll use it, but since it's an exclusive, it seems likely.

ANYway, here is the article:Read more... )

I'm sure most of you have seen these in one place or another, but I thought I'd put them here as well because they just make me all warm and fuzzy inside. :c) And you can really see where they've given Alec a truly Rickman-esque nose. I've been waiting on the hi-res close-up of Young Snape since the sticker first made its' appearance.

NOT dial-up friendly!

Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] oopmoviepics and [livejournal.com profile] alec_hopkins for posting these. :c)

So I had this dream this morning that I was an extra on a Harry Potter movie set.

I played a student, (Slytherin, of course), and I arrived the day of the shoot first at someone's big converted barn out in the country, where all the young actors who were minor players and extras in the movie were being housed. There were no "changing rooms" per se, only a huge area blocked off by four huge bookshelves which had been moved to form a giant square. If you wanted to change into your uniform, you simply slipped into an opening between the shelves.

I changed into my school robes, and when I came out I was the only one left in the room. Because there was a constantly shifting rota of actors running in and out of the barn, there was a sort of snack area that had been set up with fresh fruit (bananas, oranges, pears, apples, all free), tea (5p, hot water free), and coffee (also 5p). Somehow I knew it was because it was felt that the regular catered meals would not be enough on their own to fuel all those teenage appetites, so the owner of the barn had set this up for the kids. Coffee???

For some reason, it was not at all weird in the dream that a) I was playing a teenager, b) I'm not British, or c) I'm not an actor. I suddenly found myself sitting in the Great Hall with all the other kids, and we were eating a Hogwarts meal. I don't know which HP movie it was supposed to be, and I saw none of the actors that we've all come to recognize.

Do you think it's possible that I've been spending too much time reading about the new HP movie? Nahhhh.....

*rolls eyes* Sheesh. How embarrassing. :c/ Even my dreams are boring. LOL!

We have our lovely Snivvely, taking his OWLS (bottom left-hand corner):

Thanks for [livejournal.com profile] mysduende for spotting this. :c)

ETA: Apparently someone who has a higher-res version of this confirms that it's actually NOT the Marauders OWL scene after all. Bummer. :c(
