Last flist spam for the day. :c)

Just wanted to mention that I had a lovely time visiting with [livejournal.com profile] niamh_sage and her hubby today. I can cheerfully report that she makes a mean banana bread, has a friendly and charming hubby (hey Camilla, did you realize that his English has an Aussie accent?), and a highly social turtle that completely enthralled my kids. :c)

I wish we could have stayed a bit longer, but I was afraid of tiring her out with all of our busy-ness. Perhaps after Wee Beastie is born...

Thanks again, [livejournal.com profile] niamh_sage! And how about sharing the kaasbolletje recept?

Hey, thanks to all of you for coming! :D We really enjoyed your company (and you would have been welcome to stay longer without tiring us out too much ;) ). Your kids are brilliant, we really enjoyed their liveliness too. I'm quite sure the turtle was equally enthralled, if only by the nice yummy looking fingers placed enticingly in front of his nose :P

About Arni's accent, yes, it's noticeably Aussie, innit? I think that's partly because of him spending a year in Aust, but also because he has quite a bit of contact with Aussies through football (and me too, I spose).

And here's the recipe - it's dead easy (I made double quantities by the way - the single quantity recipe doesn't make much :P ).

1/2 cup plain flour
1 cup grated cheese
1 egg
2tsp baking powder
2 tbsp milk (I found I needed to add a little more milk as I was stirring the mix, because it was a tad too dry)

Mix all ingredients together and put on greased baking tray in blobs. Bake at 475°F (250°C) for 6-7 minutes. Serve immediately, buttered.

That's my Mum's recipe - I remember her making these things for her afternoon teas with her friends, when I was little :D
