Question

Do any of you own or know someone who owns an electronic reading device such as a Kindle or an Iliad? As much as I prefer the "hands-on" feeling you get from a "real" book, at the rate I go through them I'm thinking that it might be a) more economical, and b) more eco-friendly for me to purchase an ebook-type thing. So far the most info I can find seems to be about Kindle, but it's all coming from Amazon, and since they're selling it, they're not exactly about to offer the cons part of pros and.

It's COLD here right now...if we had enough moisture in the air, it'd be snowing. My bones ache. Maybe instead of an ebook, I should ask Santa for a new body. :cP

I have not used either of the devices mentioned. Instead I used to read E-books on my palm pilot, and have moved onto a Nokia N800 internet tablet. I was interested in the Kindle, until I found out that it doesn't have a backlight. The backlight on my N800 lets me read at night without disturbing my wife. I also use it for a lot of other purposes beyond just reading books. A downside to consider though is that I'm using the open source fbreader, so I don't have access to DRMed E-books. This doesn't affect me as I refuse to buy E-books with DRM, all of the E-books I buy are DRM free.

If you have any questions I would be happy to fill in more detail about what I know.

I know a couple of people who have a Kindle and enjoy it. I'm not ready to give up all of my hundreds of books and the thought of cuddling with them.
