Of all the Equus images with Dan Rad that I've seen, this is the only one that creeps me out. Something about the way the guy in the horse suit is looking at him feels wrong somehow. Dan looks very child-like, and the costume looks more like some kind of bizarre seual fetish than a horse.

It's not the boy's attraction to the horse that freaks me out, but rather the implication in this photo that the horse shares the sexual attraction, and possibly holds the upper hand. Anthropomorphizing bugs me. :c/

for the boy Alan Strang the horse has a sexual attraction
as well as a religious one, that makes it all so alien, because in our mainly christian western perception, sex and religion don't mix.

That hasn't always been so, and I think that the main interest of the shrink Dysart isn't Ancient Greek Culture for nothing.
