Venezia
Up early the following morning to catch the ferry from Fusina to Venice, which was conveniently located about 50 meters from our campsite. Speiky wasn't too sure about it at first, generally preferring to be *in* the water rather than on top of it, but he quickly settled down under hubby's feet and watched the sunlight dancing on the water.

We quickly disembarked, and headed out. Venice is truly a unique city. I hadn't been there for over 30 years, but it seemed to me that not much had changed. I once compared it to the decaying corpse of a beautiful woman, which dismayed my mother; I was only 13 at the time. ;c) Venice is both lovely and mysterious, with an atmosphere of ancient power and debauchery. It sounds melodramatic, but if you ever go there, you'll understand immediately what I mean.

Marissa feeds the pigeons in St. Mark's Square.

We wandered well off the beaten path, choosing to forgo the touristy stuff for the most part. At one point I looked up, and this was my view.

More gorgeous canal views.

Moi.

Souvenirs! Seriously, it was PACKED with all kinds of tourists and nonsense along here.

We stopped for pizza. The temperatures were in the high 90's that day, so the shady side streets were a blessing.

More meandering.

This one is especially for
jabberwhalky :c) His name is the Plague Doctor.

Along the Grand Canal. Words cannot express how HOT it was.

Speiky swims!

Another lovely view.

We settled in to have dinner at a restaurant on the water called Casin Dei Nobili, where I had some kind of amazing black pasta with mini lobsters. Wow. The service was quick, the waiters polite, and the food was to die for. I highly recommend it to anyone in Venice. It's right on the Grand Canal, so you can't miss it.
Lukas, however, found the bright green apple juice somewhat disturbing. He said it tasted fine, but I'm not sure *I* would have been able to drink it! LOL!

Next, to Croatia via Slovenia!
