Just to let everyone know, I made a kick-a$$ pot of brussel(s) sprout soup this evening.
Now the whole family is farting round-robin style.
Yeah, I'm easily amused. ;cP

Date: 2008-02-29 07:17 pm (UTC)Dude, brussels sprouts are AMAZING. I didn't like them when I was a kid, mostly 'cause I'd only ever had them after they'd been steamed into mush, but now I love them. One of the best things I've ever eaten in my life was a small plate of brussels sprouts at a fancy restaurant; if given the choice to eat that plate or fine chocolate, I'd pick the sprouts any day. *LOL* Care to share the soup recipe? *makes puppy eyes*

Date: 2008-02-29 07:33 pm (UTC)75 g butter
750 g brussels sprouts
1 finely chopped onion
100 g peeled and diced potato
350 g bacon, preferably in one big piece*
1.5 l beef broth
1 dl cream
salt
pepper
nutmeg
Melt the butter and fry the onion until translucent. Add the potato and sprouts and cook another 5 minutes. Add the broth, and the bacon*. Bring to a boil, then lower the heat and cover. Cook 30 minutes.
Remove the bacon and dice. Puree the soup and add the cream. Add the chunks of bacon. Add salt, pepper, and nutmeg to taste.
*if you can only find regular sliced bacon, cook it separately in another pan and only add it AFTER you have pureed the soup.
Eet smaakelijk!
