Monday evening I started feeling a little stiffness in my left shoulder and neck. Since it was a wet, cold day, and I am an older(er) individual, I put it down to "one of those things" and went about my Business As Usual.

That night, every time I tried to roll over in bed, I got a jolt of sharp, burning pain from the base of my skull, across to my shoulderblade, along my spine to about the middle of my back. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well. I spent the day more or less flat on my back in bed, with intermittant hot baths and copious amounts of Tiger Balm applications.

Lying in bed because you're sick and running a fever is fine; usually you just sleep though how crappy you feel. Lying in bed because you can't move but otherwise feeling fine sucks. I was bored shitless by 9:00. My hubby had dealt with all the various Morning Errands; kids to school, dog walking, etc. and went upstairs to work. I stared at the wallpaper and listened to the rain on the windows. Finally I decided that since I wasn't going to drop off to sleep, I might as well grab a book from the piles beside my bed and catch up on some reading.

I finished three books between Tuesday morning and Wednesday afternoon. I finished "On the Occasion of My Last Afternoon," "Batavia" and "City of Falling Angels." To be completely honest, I had started all three of these books, but somehow never managed to get all the way through them. In the case of the first and last, I hadn't made it past the first couple of chapters of either. "Batavia" I was about halfway through. So if nothing else, I managed to clear out some back-log.

Now I'm down to about 10 books, and then I'm officially beginning to panic. I had planned on going to the ABC bookstore this month for my birthday, but that's not going to work out due to some other expenses that have cropped up that take precedence.

Hmmm...maybe I should actually *use* that library card before it expires next month?

Anyway, while I'm still a little tender, I'm up and about today as usual. I had to have hubby help me at the market because I was afraid that pushing a fully-loaded cart around would put me in a relapse. :c) I sifted through something like 300 LJ entries, and am now completely caught up. Kind of a shame really as the weather today was gorgeous. Spring is in the air. :c)
