My 2 sense
May. 30th, 2007 08:25 amI don't write fanfic, but I do read it. Since when has writing fiction on ANY topic been illegal? Where exactly does Six Apart feel their liability lies? Writing a story that contains homosexual sex/chan/incest doesn't mean you practice it, endorse it, or solicit it, just as writing about murder doesn't mean that you are a murderer, or endorse killing, or are soliciting a gun for hire.
When did America become the Land of the Cowardly? Why do so many people/companies roll over and show their bellies when the Thought Police demand to re-make America in their own image? Why does Freedom of Speech only seem to apply to those who complain the loudest?
By all means, get rid of the kiddie pr0n. It needs to die a permanent death and the people who perpetrate it should all suffer eternal agony. But an idea is not an act, and as far as I'm aware, you can only be held liable for actions.
So. I'm not saying anything new, but it shocks me how many rights are being slowly taken away in the name of "well, it MIGHT be this" in the U.S.
